Been on 10-15 food tours. This was worst because of tour guide Cathy. She may have been trying for salty or sassy but was very much tedious and boorish. Food was pretty good. One stop was at chain restaurant out of Louisiana, the candy shop stop was average at best. The stop at the tea and spice shop felt like an hour though my wife assures me it was only 15-20 minutes. Seems like Cathy wanted to kill some time. If you book through Bulldog, make sure Cathy is not the guide.

Ouch! Miss Robinye, you clearly did not like your guide. It happens now and again and we apologize for any inconvenience or displeasure it may have caused you. Our guides display a range of personalities, some more gregarious and others more to the point, but we assure you that they are all held to the highest professional standards. This is the first time any of our guests have expressed such a mocking disdain for Cathy, or for any of our other guides, for that matter, and it has left us gobsmacked. We absolutely respect your opinion and your right to express your views unhindered and for the world to see. Nevertheless, for anyone else reading this review, we would like future guests to know that we hold Cathy in the highest regard, a lady of grace, humor and penetrating wit. We often make changes in response to candid remarks by our guests. In this case, we will not. Have a great New Year, Miss Robinye.

My wife and I did the Savor the Flavors tour in Charleston in mid-December 2019. Our guide, Sarah, was very knowledgable, if not a bit rehearsed at times. We went to a few restaurants, as well as a candy shop and a funner-than-expected stop at the tea/spice shop. All the food was excellent and the history provided by Sarah was very interesting. Tour would have been five stars except we didn't get to sample some of the staples of Charleston cooking like collard greens, shrimp and grits, or fried green tomatoes. But what we did get was great, and a good time was had by all on our tour, it seemed.

Thanks for the review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the food offerings presented on your culinary tour as well as your guide Sarah. We take seriously all feedback-good and bad-in order to find ways to improve and do better. Charleston culinary history is quite extensive with many different styles of cuisine with origins in England, the Caribbean, French, German, and West African to name a few. We wish that we could offer all of it on our tours, but it would take more time and bigger stomachs. Regardless, we are taking to heart your feedback to try and include your suggestions. Thanks again!

We had a GREAT time!! As history nerds, we were as much interested in that as the food. Guide Franny Russell really knows her stuff and is SO entertaining! The food was fabulous and we had plenty. Our favorite thing we did on our Christmas trip.
