Overview

Walk, talk and taste your way through historic Charleston South Carolina. This small-group 2.5-hour tour will immerse you in the history and culture of the Lowcountry and allow you to experience a remarkable culinary scene in downtown Charleston. Stops along the way will include many of the city’s leading restaurants through out the city. Typical tastings include: stone ground grits, Southern pralines, sweet tea, collard greens, Lowcountry barbeque, and fried green tomatoes.

***PLEASE NOTE: If there are any food allergies in your party, we must know at least 48 hours in advance or some restaurants may not be able to accommodate. We also can't guarantee there will be a substitution at every location due to some allergies.

Charleston City Market

Built in the early 1800's, this four block historical landmark was originally the city's grocery store. Today, the City Market is home to a variety of local vendors that sell their art, crafts, and local wares.

Great tour! Gordon was a great guide he had a great sense of humor which made the tour fun, he also understands food and the history behind the food. I highly recommend this tour. Do not ear before you go, You will be completely satisfied and full with great food tastings.

We booked this tour and I have to say, I was not quite sold from the description on the website. Some of the examples given for the food just did not enthrall me. "Benne wafers and sweet tea" were not items that I felt warranted the price tag for the tour. Boy was their description wrong. Fanny lead the group to 5 different locations and I was wowed. She has so much to offer about the Charleston food scene and history. You will not leave hungry and you won't be disappointed by items that you could try on your own. I don't want to give too much away but at one restaurant, we had 3 different food items. Highly recommend this tour.
