Scenic Horseback Adventure

Overview
Enjoy a 1 hr hour walking guided horseback ride with panoramic views of the Verde Valley. We are only 30 minutes from Sedona. This ride is tailored for nervous first timers, beginners, families and children. The ride takes you around the Texas Longhorn pen where you will get to see Brutus, the gentle giant as well as buffalo.. Enjoy views of the Verde Valley, Mingus Mountains and see as far as the San Fransico Peaks in Flagstaff. The old west feel of this location, the western facades, horses, chickens, goats and cows will make you want to trade your shiny shoes for an old pair of boots and your fancy car for a horse! Guest are also welcome to feed the barbado sheep, give the horses treats or take a selfie with the minis.

The ride itself was fun and definitely great for beginner riders like my husband. He was scared to ride but the horses took it easy and it was a great ride. The couple suggestions I have for improvement are: - they need to clean up the areas the animals live in and the animals themselves. These poor babies looked like they hadnā€™t been brushed or bathed in a while. Only the horses seemed to be looked after. - making sure everyone is properly fitted into their saddle before leaving... my legs were way too high which caused my knees pain. - reduce the number of people on a ride. We had 18 people and we got stuck in the back. We couldnā€™t hear anything the guide was saying. Overall, it was fun to ride horses but Iā€™ll probably visit other places next time.

Thank you for the review and riding with us.. some of our animals start to look very natrual in the winter time ha ha as it is to cold to wash them like we do in the Summer time. Washing animals in the winter time puts them at risk for getting sick.. The petting zoo animals are just a bonus, are very well taken care of, and many other guests enjoy them. We do however apologize that your stirups weren't adjusted. We ask everyone upon mounting what length they would like their stirups adjusted to. Although there was 18 people on your ride you could have asked the side or back wrangler to help you. We hope you have a blessed day.

The staff was nice & helpful, but the tour itself was not worth the money. The scenic horseback adventure is just a trail that goes near/under a highway and looks at the back of the Out of Africa facilities. We did the hour and a half sunset tour, and nothing about it was scenic/interesting. For the last 30 minutes of our tour, they took us to look at behind the scenes of the ranch, which is basically just a bunch of chain link fences, noisy cars on the highway next to you, & cows. Also, the staff is not very covid cautious (none of them wear masks - even when they're inside the office filling our paperwork with you). Overall, it's a cool experience getting to ride a horse, but the tour itself is not the best.

Thank you for your review and although we always hope for a 5 star, we know there is always going to be someone that doesn't appreciate the experience. We always take proper Covid restrictions and this was brought up in a company meeting and the wranglers could not think of one time that a mask wasn't worn. Our tour does cross under a freeway but many others find it very enjoyable and scenic. Have a great day.

Anyone who asks my children what their favorite thing was on our trip to AZ is energetically told... horseback riding. It was such a beautiful experience and I highly recommend it.
