Both of us are over 60 and have never done ocean kayaking and this experience was fine for us. They give lots of instructions, are very patient, and well-organized. We chose not to go to any of the islands but instead went straight to the other beach for snorkeling. The snorkeling, even though the visibility was less than perfect, was more than sufficient to see lots of different species of fish; I counted over a dozen distinct species of fish, all of them colorful. Some tips: I wore a life vest and just floated on the water to look for fish and eventually I was rewarded. Also, I looked for coral formations that had lots of color; that seemed to attract fish because it was a sign that the coral was alive. In addition, if I saw a fish or two, I hung around there and seemed like eventually more fish would appear. I would also swim around that clump of coral looking into nooks and crannies and would frequently see more fish. Overall, it was a great day of snorkeling. Included with our excursion was a lunch voucher which we chose to use at the Hawaiian place right next door to KBA; suffice to say it was delicious, but that's another review.
