My hotel happened to give me a free ticket for this & I decided to give it a go since it’s one of the only observatories I haven’t been to in nyc. I got there just before 4p and redeemed my pass for a ticket. I asked to pay the difference for a skip the line pass but it was a waste of money. Maybe I lucked out on crowds, but there was zero difference between me & everyone else. No special queue; just waited in same line as everyone else. On the way down there was a line for priority tickets, but w no attendant, everyone just flowed into the same elevator queue. Maybe when it’s really busy it’s different? The ride up is very quick. Cool that you watch a short movie then the screens go up & you see outside. Given an iPad that seemed totally worthless so I stopped trying to use it. Walked all the way around at a slow pace but I was back down in under 45 minutes. I heard an attendant say most people stay 2 hours and you need at least 45. There was really nothing else more to see or do. It’s mainly just the one level that you can walk all the way around but it’s all indoors. I personally prefer top of the rock, but the views were nice from this location.

Extremely easy and pleasant experience from the start. Very courteous staff guiding my family and me along the way. Great adventure for adults and kids alike. No better way to see New York on a clear day. Stunning views.

The elevator was an amazing experience, it was fast, you can see the surroundings of skylines as you go up and down in 47 seconds. Everything was great including people!!!👍👍👍
