Alaska Sled Dogs & Musher's Camp
Your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour from your knowledgeable guide through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our Musher’s Camp™ in Dyea. Next, hop into our specialized unimog for an exciting ride up our rugged mountain road, surrounded by glacially fed streams and waterfalls. At the top, your musher will greet you with a custom-designed wheeled summertime sled and a team of very excited Alaskan Huskies! Feel the power of these strong dogs as they whisk you down a mile-long, zig-zagging trail deep in the Tongass National Rainforest! After meeting your dog team, climb back into your unimog and enjoy the adventurous ride to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea tidal flats. Depending on the month you just might see eagles, bears, seals, horseback riders, wild flowers, and of course snow-capped mountains. Your unimog will then bring you to what we like to call a “Kennel Talk.” We have been sharing our passion for dog sledding for years, and in that time we have gathered up the most frequently ask questions about the sport. In the Kennel Talk, we will share the fascinating answers and welcome any additional questions you may have. Of course, we make sure you have plenty of time to play with our puppies! Your affections actually socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success. A crackling fire and a unique gift shop round out your visit. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting!

Our guide Austin Taylor picked us up at our cruise ship dock. Our bus ride took about 35 minutes to arrive at the musher's dog camp. Austin was an awesome guide who provided us history of the town and of the camp itself. We then went mushing with amazing dogs, it was so much fun. We then were able to greet the dogs who were so gentle and lovable. We were then taken to pet the puppies who were about 8 weeks old, again adorable and lovable. Austin then dropped us off in the main town where we ate lunch, shopped and made our way back to the ship. An overall excellent tour in Skagway!

We loved our time with the dogs! Denise, our adventure guide, was great. She gave us interesting history tidbits as we traveled to the camp. We loved being on the practice sled and then playing with the puppies. Everyone was personable and nice. I would highly recommend! Denise dropped us off in town, which was very nice to save us the walk from the boat.

Jason was our driver and he was excellent. We booked this excursion through the cruise line, and I think it was the highlight of our trip. The ride on the dog sled was so much fun and loved getting to interact with the dogs. The icing on the cake was getting to hold the puppies afterward.
