Route 66
After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.
2
Williams Depot
Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.
3
Grand Canyon South Rim
You’ll experience approximately three hours within the National Park marveling at the beauty that is the Grand Canyon. You will be driven to viewpoints as well as have free time to walk to various viewpoints and points of interest. Visit the historic El Tovar Lodge, Hopi House, Mather Point or Yavapai Point, the Geology Museum and more incredible viewpoints! While at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, you will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or enjoy lunch (own expense) and relax with the best seat in the house.

It was one of the best tours we have ever taken and we have toured all over the world. Our driver, Memo, was great! Very kind and considerate and extremely knowledgeable of not only the locations we visited but also the vegetation we saw along the way, the ecosystems as we drove higher into the mountains and the history of all the locations we visited. We truly believe we got much more that our moneys worth from this tour.

This trip was 100 percent worth the money and the time. The bus ride was very comfortable, because the seats were leather and updated with head and back support. The tourist guide communicated well enough to tell us history about all the land marks leading up to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Even though it was a 13 hour tour at no time did I feel bored or dissatisfied with the tour. The sites were fantastic, the people I met on the bus were very nice, and the tour guide had answers for all my questions and told us more facts that made this trip feel like I won the lottery. It was worth every penny spent! Do it.... Detours does not short cut in any way for their tours and I never felt like my life was at risk. I'm 100 percent satisfied and would go on more tours in the future.

This was a tour like no other. DETOURS picked me up at my hotel in downtown Phoenix. They were sharp on time. After picking up a few others, we headed off on this remarkable journey. Our host Mark was fantastic. As he drove along the way, he shared his vast knowledge about the places we passed by & about the places we would be stopping. First place we stopped at, Sedona. Right before officially entering this beautiful city, we stopped to take in an amazing site were huge rock formations were displayed. It was definitely picturesque. Then we headed into Sedona were we spent about 30 minutes were you can explore different unique shops that Sedona had to offer. We then proceed to our 2nd stop, Williams, near Route 66. Its a nice little town to buy unique souvenirs & to soak in a little bit of the history of Route 66. From there, we headed towards the Grand Canyon. What can I say, this place is absolutely breathtaking!!! If you haven't experienced the Grand Canyon, make sure to put it on your Bucket List for sure! Overall, this was a remarkable journey. Mark from DETOURS was a lot fun, the ride was smooth, & oh, you also get a fantastic lunch that's included in this tour. If you're in the Phoenix area, I highly recommend this experience. Awesome job DETOURS!!!
