What To Expect
1
Route 66
After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.
2
Williams Depot
Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.
3
Grand Canyon South Rim
You’ll experience approximately three hours within the National Park marveling at the beauty that is the Grand Canyon. You will be driven to viewpoints as well as have free time to walk to various viewpoints and points of interest. Visit the historic El Tovar Lodge, Hopi House, Mather Point or Yavapai Point, the Geology Museum and more incredible viewpoints! While at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, you will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or enjoy lunch (own expense) and relax with the best seat in the house.
Cancellation Policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

I was in Phoenix for a conference and looking for something interesting to do with an extra day in Arizona. I’m so glad I chose this trip! Brendan was an excellent guide who provided lots of relevant info about the sights, hosted a fun trivia quiz, took lots of pictures for the people in the group, and made sure everyone was well taken care of with water, rest stops, phone charging, etc. He really made it feel like it was your own trip, even though it was a group tour. The van (which you do spend a lot of time in, so it’s very important) was very comfortable, in great repair, and spotlessly clean inside and out. Also, the Grand Canyon is truly incredible and it really is a must see! Only two things to note about this trip: 1. When you go to Sedona, don’t expect many shops to be open because it’s too early in the morning (don’t worry, you can at least get a Starbucks!) 2. If you have dietary requirements beyond “vegetarian” and “gluten free” (lifestyle choice; not Celiac as it’s not a dedicated kitchen) then you may not be able to be accommodated. Check first! (I emailed and ended up bringing my own lunch.) That said, I would not hesitate to recommend this tour and I would definitely book with Detours if I’m back in Phoenix in the future.

This was a fantastic way to see Arizona’s beautiful landscapes! We were only in Arizona for 3 full days and we were really happy we chose to do this excursion. The scenery from downtown Phoenix to Sedona was so vastly different than the scenery from Sedona to the Grand Canyon—all very beautiful! Our tour guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable and made the trip really fun and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this trip if you have a short time in Arizona and don’t want to rent a car. It’s a 13 hour excursion so plan on a full day of driving and sight seeing!
