Best experience of our vacation in New Orleans. If you're looking for more than just a touristy swamp tour with a hundred other people, this is your answer. Kayaking with a small group of around ten people in a beautiful swamp north of the city. We had a spectacular time, from the guide Chelsea to the beauty of the swamp to the people we met. About the perfect trip. Can't recommend it highly enough.

What a worthwhile tour! We had a group of 5 adults, and joined another small group of 4 adults. Our tour guide, Max, was very organized and had us in our kayaks and out in the swamp in no time at all. He was very well informed and knew the area well. He was able to point out and give additional information on the alligators, turtles, ducks, herons, flowers, and trees-----some of the many things we saw that day. He also provided background information and a little history of the area. All of this seemed to just flow effortlessly as we paddled along. One very memorable and charming extra: Max pointed out two baby owls nesting in a tree along the way. Though they were camouflaged, we were able to take the time to pull up close and get a good look at them----all under the watchful eye of the adult owl on a nearby branch. Definitely a National Geographic moment! I will admit to being the one in our group most concerned about safety during the trip, but found the experience to be very relaxing and completely safe. We came away with beautiful pictures, and all of our fingers and toes.

A few Wednesdays ago, my girlfriend and I went on the Manchac Swamp kayak tour during our visit to New Orleans. Overall, the swamp was remarkable. The wildlife (gators, egrets, a snake, fish, an owl!) came out to play on our tour. Being on the water surrounded by all the different types of swamp flora is really a remarkable way to experience nature. The experience of that alone would have garnered 5 stars for the tour, but we were lucky to have an amazing tour guide, Chelsea, who really has a passion for her job and the swamp itself. The owl, particularly, seems to grown attached to her and caught a fish about 20 yards from the group. She thoughtfully explained the history of the swamp, its relationship with humans over time, the ecosystem and wildlife. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Would go back again :) -Danielle
