Unfortunately disappointing experience for a number of reasons.
1 - The trolley was not actually in service the day of our tour. Instead, we were offered transport in a shuttle bus. Although they made us aware in advance, there was not an offer to cancel or reschedule, which in retrospect I wish I had just done.
2 - Battery died in said shuttle bus before we even left. We were left to wander around the square while the guide, Richard, waited for a jump.
3 - Richard was miserable. Cranky, seemed like he really did not want to be there. It seems like we really missed out not only on trolley but on the regular guide who was unavailable that day.
4 - "Vineyard" experience. We went to Buena Vista, VJB, Mayo, and Seamus. BV was ok, but we were confined indoors to tacky tchotchke-filled rooms the entire time. VJB was.. fine? but felt like just sitting on a restaurant patio. Mayo wine was ok, but again we were just stuck in an industrial barrel room for the majority of the visit. Seamus is... not a winery? It is a basic tasting room in a strip mall on the side of the road.
^this was the frustrating aspect of the trip. Becoming overwhelmed trying to decide which wineries to visit, we trusted this company to bring us to high-quality locations, and we were left overall very disappointed in where we were taken to. Ending at a strip mall while in wine country was unreal in a bad way. We spent most of a beautiful fall day inside, between the lack of trolley and the design of the experiences. WE DID NOT SET FOOT ON AN ACTUAL VINEYARD FOR THE ENTIRE DAY.
I will give two stars because I did get to drink wine and they did provide a refund after sending in feedback but I would not recommend this experience to anyone unless the company makes some significant changes.

Thank you for your feedback. We do apologize that you did not get the wine trolley experience that we aim to provide. We know that the open-air trolley car is what makes our tour unique. As far as the wineries and tasting rooms we visit, we do like to provide a variety of both large wineries such as Buena Vista, and small family owned tasting rooms such as Mayo and Seamus, as they provide very different experiences, as well as wines. Oftentimes walking guests into the vineyards is a standard part of the experience they will provide; and although I'm unsure why you didn't get to go into the vineyards on this day, it could be due to being the harvest time, they may have had people hard at work, and therefore could have been unfit to take a large group out there. We do apologize once again that you didn't get to experience that, and that the overall day in general did not meet your expectations. Regards, The Napa Valley Wine Trolley
