South Kaibab Trail
The South Kaibab Trail is a must-hike trail in Grand Canyon National Park. It was blasted out of the Canyon's sheer walls by the National Park Service in the 1920s, and today offers a dramatic journey to amazing features like Ooh Aah Point, Cedar Ridge and Skeleton Point. On this tour our goal, which is not guaranteed as each group is unique, is Skeleton Point, where we will enjoy a picnic lunch looking down onto the Colorado River and Phantom Ranch far below us. The hike back is arduous, so be ready for a quick descent and a longer return!

April of '21 We did the 3 Day Grand Canyon Classic. First day down, camping at Phantom Ranch Campground and then two days out. We camped at Indian Gardens coming up. Dean was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and personable. I would definitely recommend him. The hike was memorable. It's hard to explain the vastness, size and beauty of the canyon. One jaw dropping vista after another. We took lots of clothes for layering due to the changes in temperatures an conditions. A surprise was the composition and condition of the trail varies as much as the weather. I would take this trip again.

Unless you are an experienced hiker or have experience in the Grand Canyon, I would recommend hiring an experienced guide. I can't recommend Wildlandtrekking and our guide Steve Klefstad enough. Steve's expertise and knowledge made our trip a wonderful experience. As a family of 5 that has done some hiking, but never at the Grand Canyon, we felt a guide would be the right way to go and make us more comfortable. The entire pre-trip process was fantastic. Steve shared great planning advice on how to prepare for the trip. Proper gear, water and layers of clothes as the temperature varies as you descend and climb. The day of our hike, Steve was early and prepared. We had a quick review of gear, safety and best practices. Then we got underway. All along the way, Steve shared tons of knowledge of the canyon, geology, wildlife and history. He went at our pace and provided lots of time to stop and admire the views and sites! If you are visiting the Grand Canyon and want an expert to guide you through the trails and fill you with knowledge of the magical canyon, then Wildland and Steve is your choice!!!
