Loved this tour. But be warned - its 4 HOURS! I haven't been to Statue of Liberty in 50 years and have never seen Ellis Island. I definitely recommend both. The Statue is stunning and the story behind it all is amazing. Unfortunately, we did not spend as much time as necessary to see Ellis Island. I would want to go back just to explore there a bit more. I recommended a guided tour - I felt that I would have been lost without one. Go!

Hi and thanks for sharing your feedback. I'm very glad that you enjoyed your tour with us. They have really built the museum up so much on Ellis Island and you can easily spend a couple of hours seeing all of the exhibits they've installed so our guides re-create that immigrant experience through the stories they tell so if you don't have the time to dive into the museum you can still understand what it was like for the immigrants who passed through there. If you plan on visiting Ellis Island again I would highly recommend looking into the Hard Hat Tour which allows you access to the parts of the island where the hospitals are. That part of the island is not open to the public for self guided visits or open to outside tour groups so tours are conducted by the Save Ellis Island Foundation only. If you have any questions about booking that tour please feel free to get in touch. Thanks again for visiting with us and for taking the time to share your feedback.

Matt was a fabulous guide. knowledgeable, a great guide keeping us all together, theatrical, repeating Emma Lazuras' poem and singing a song that brought tears to my eyes. i highly recommend him. Now for the downer, if the website's description of the trip had included an explanation of the type of security screening involved, my husband would not have brought a pocket knife that he carries and is meaningful to him. it didn't pass security. Matt had him hide it under a ramp to be collected on the way back. alas, it wasn't there. so, it''s gone. other than that, a great trip.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am genuinely sorry that your husband lost something that was important to him and I'm glad you enjoyed your time with Matt. We have done our best to provide the security information to customers at time of booking or on the voucher that is sent after the tour is booked. I will go back and check that this information is updated on all online platforms where we sell this tour. Thank you again for the feedback.

I previously went to NYC 30 years ago and wasn't able t to visit Liberty Island or Ellis Island let alone even seeing the Statue of Liberty in her full glory as she was being renovated and covered by scaffolding. So on this trip it was first on my agenda and I was not disappointed. But what made the experience more special was our tour guide, Matt. First off, booking the tour was easy and the instructions on where to meet was excellent. Matt met the group and led us on the tour. Along the way he was not only knowledgeable but very personable and quite funny. But the extra special touch, the one you can't get by simply renting those machines, was his theatrical sense. He recited the Statue of Liberty poem and it brought tears to my eyes; he marked our backs as we climbed the steps at Ellis Island and later explained what the markings meant (my husband received an "X" which was potential mental problems....we had a good chuckle over that); he interviewed a couple and later reviewed their answers and told us whether they would have been admitted to the U.S. based on those answers; he divided us up into three groups as we walked down the steps not knowing what it meant until we reached the other side; he even sang an old Irish folk song beautifully and tenderly. But the topping on the cake was that he actually laid on the ground to take photos of everyone with their cameras at the Statue of Liberty in the background....wow! I know the park rangers that were on hand would not do that! The tour was excellent but our tour guide Matt made it that much better!
