Stories of Salem: Dark History and Murder Night Tour

Overview
When you hear people talk about Salem, often times the first thing that comes to mind is Witches, and Halloween, and ghosts and spooky fun, but there's so much more lurking in the shadows. Salem is nearly 400 years old and just like all of us, it has a dark side. An underbelly wrought with stories for the ages. Join us for our 90 min evening walking tour as we wander through the shadows and hear stories about pirates and pepper, secrets of the oldest cemetery in Salem, brutal murders, strange legal battles, curses, spiders, torture, and of course a ghost story or two. We invite you to be part of our story and learn why true history is Better Than Fiction. -All tour guides are licensed by the City of Salem and are professional storytellers .

OK, So I while I have been on a trolly tour of Salem during Halloween. I had never taken a walking tour before. So I want to be up front and say, I have no other experience to compare this to. That said, This tour didn't really hold our attention. Our host was perfectly pleasant an I have no doubt that he put a lot of work into developing his tour. It must take considerable time and effort to build something like that out and it's probably incredibly taxing in the craziness of Salem during Halloween! But both my partner and I felt that the content of the history and stories told, combined with the delivery, made it difficult to stay connected to the information being presented. They had also asked on the booking form if it was any sort of special event. It was my partners birthday so I mentioned that in the form. I'm not sure why they asked as it was never referred to during our experience. We didn't really care, but it contributed to our feelings about the presentation. Ultimately we wound up bailing off of the tour early and I noticed we weren't the only ones to do so. I generally don't like leaving these kind of reviews. But it's not cheap to book these tours. Especially if you are bringing a family. So I feel like this kind of feedback should be available and it also gives the people running the tour an opportunity to get a feel for their customers experience.

caroline was excellent, funny, informative and keep it interesting. We had a large crowd and she made sure she didn't lose anyone and that we all could hear. Best tour I had in Salem
