Surfing - Group Lesson - Waikiki, Oahu

Overview

Learn to surf on this 2-hour group lesson on Oahu. Join a group of students and discover how to ride the waves like some of the Island's most famous celebrities with the help of a certified, professional instructor. We have small student to instructor ratio of 1 instructor for every 3-4 students. Waikiki Surf Lesson starts a 10 minute safety slide show inside our surf shop, followed by heading to the beach and practicing on the sand for another 10 minutes. In our 20 year experience, we know that surfing is muscle memory, so when first timers master their surf stance then they tend to get up on their very first wave.

There were 18 people in my son’s group lesson, so very little “instruction”. They basically showed a 5 min video in their shop before taking them out to get their boards. There were so many that my son spent most of his time lying on his board in the water waiting for his turn to go. In 2 hours, he was able to attempt surfing only 5 times. He was disappointed and did not enjoy the activity. If you don’t want to pay the $160 for a private lesson, watch a YouTube video on surfing and rent the board for $30.

After much research, I booked surf lessons for my husband and two teenage daughters with Han Hedemann Surf School. They LOVED it! Professional and personable instructors were fabulous. Highly recommend Hans Hedemann Surf School

Delightful day with smaller than normal waves, but Charly and Austin made it happen, pushing us so we all got rides, and cheering us on. Smart strategy, good efficiency, great setting, good prep. Lunch afterwards at Lulu's with the school's 10 percent discount was scenic and good as well.
