Surfing - Group Lesson - Waikiki, Oahu

Overview

Learn to surf on this 2-hour group lesson on Oahu. Join a group of students and discover how to ride the waves like some of the Island's most famous celebrities with the help of a certified, professional instructor. We have small student to instructor ratio of 1 instructor for every 3-4 students. Waikiki Surf Lesson starts a 10 minute safety slide show inside our surf shop, followed by heading to the beach and practicing on the sand for another 10 minutes. In our 20 year experience, we know that surfing is muscle memory, so when first timers master their surf stance then they tend to get up on their very first wave.

I was going to Hawaii with my boyfriend for his birthday and I knew I wanted to take a surf class during our stay and I asked my boyfriend if he wanted me to sign him up also and he reluctantly said yes. I can honestly say my boyfriend had the best time. The instructors were so nice and helpful. We did a group class that had about 9 people in the class and everyone had 5 turns trying to catch waves. They offer private classes if you want to catch more waves. But if you don’t mind waiting around for your turn the group class is fine. Plus you’re also hanging out with the other people in your group and talking. If you happen to be going to Turtle Bay Resort do not pass on a surf class. I highly recommend it. Plus the photo package is only $35 and I have a great photo of my boyfriend and I catching waves or looking like we did. Highly recommend. Loved this experience.

The group lesson only had two of us so it was a nearly private lesson. Our instructor, Derek, did a terrific job of teaching us the basics and made the day really enjoyable!
