Surfing - Group Lesson - Waikiki, Oahu

Overview

Learn to surf on this 2-hour group lesson on Oahu. Join a group of students and discover how to ride the waves like some of the Island's most famous celebrities with the help of a certified, professional instructor. We have small student to instructor ratio of 1 instructor for every 3-4 students. Waikiki Surf Lesson starts a 10 minute safety slide show inside our surf shop, followed by heading to the beach and practicing on the sand for another 10 minutes. In our 20 year experience, we know that surfing is muscle memory, so when first timers master their surf stance then they tend to get up on their very first wave.

I'm a 21-year-old who has surfed once before in cold-water with underwhelming waves. After a lesson with Adam and learning the basics of surfing and correcting bad habits, I had an extremely fun time surfing and catching the waves. Surfing ended up being easier than I thought and I'll forever remember the moments where I was coasting along the waves. Adam was patient with his teachings and I learned the basics in no time with his guidance and suggestions. I was in a group of a couple and another guy, but I felt I gotten enough attention and care to make my experience amazing. I brought my GoPro but forgot an attachment to the board. Luckily, the board that I used had an existing attachment base, and the guys at the shop were able to hook me up with an attachment, and it made the whole surfing experience so much better. They definitely made sure that I had fun and I was taken care of. Kamani picked me up from the hotel right on time which was great. I expected a ride back to the hotel but it would have been a 20-minute wait for Kamani since he was already out on a trip to pick folks up for the afternoon lesson. I ended up walking back to my hotel but I enjoyed the walk along Waikiki so it was a silver lining in itself! I'd for sure recommend Hans Hedemann to everyone of all ages!

Instructors were great, very fun and helpful. They worked with each of us as much as we needed. They were great at making sure everyone was able to get up and catch the right wave. Location was convenient and I loved being at the "quiet" end of Waikiki. Lots of time in the water after a quick land introduction/lesson. I also loved that the photos were included. Highly recommend! Here's a tip - use the long sleeve rash guard they provide!

Our 18, 13, and 13 year old children signed up for the Ohana package. They had 2 instructors for the 3 of them. The instructors, Lance and Allen, could not have been any nicer. The kids loved surfing and had a great time.
