Surfing - Group Lesson - Waikiki, Oahu

Overview

Learn to surf on this 2-hour group lesson on Oahu. Join a group of students and discover how to ride the waves like some of the Island's most famous celebrities with the help of a certified, professional instructor. We have small student to instructor ratio of 1 instructor for every 3-4 students. Waikiki Surf Lesson starts a 10 minute safety slide show inside our surf shop, followed by heading to the beach and practicing on the sand for another 10 minutes. In our 20 year experience, we know that surfing is muscle memory, so when first timers master their surf stance then they tend to get up on their very first wave.

Had a great time learning to surf. We had an amazing instructor, Seth. We all exceed our own expectations and were all able to get up on the board and even caught a few waves on our own. Highly recommend arriving early so that you have time to change into the rash guard and shoes and watch the safety video and still get your full time to surf. We all agreed it was the highlight of our trip!

Wonderful experience. Pete was an amazing teacher, he helped me to understand the ocean so I could stay safe and catch a wave! He was very patient and encouraging. I wish I would have tried surfing much earlier, but it felt pretty amazing to be up on a board in my late 40’s! Thanks so much. I plan to come back next time I’m on the island and will definitely recommend Viator.

We had a great time. It was our first time surfing. There were 8 people and three instructors. The hardest part was getting out to the waves, we swam diagonal across a huge expanse of reef to get to a good surfing area rather than moving over on land and then going in straight. That made starting out exhausting. The beginner boards are very heavy and wide. The instructors were great at calling out tips on how to shift our weight, when to paddle, and when to stand. I would love for this to be a regular hobby if only I lived nearby!
