Surfing - Group Lesson - Waikiki, Oahu

Overview

Learn to surf on this 2-hour group lesson on Oahu. Join a group of students and discover how to ride the waves like some of the Island's most famous celebrities with the help of a certified, professional instructor. We have small student to instructor ratio of 1 instructor for every 3-4 students. Waikiki Surf Lesson starts a 10 minute safety slide show inside our surf shop, followed by heading to the beach and practicing on the sand for another 10 minutes. In our 20 year experience, we know that surfing is muscle memory, so when first timers master their surf stance then they tend to get up on their very first wave.

My wife and I took a beginner course from here. It was our first time surfing and we had an excellent experience. The instructors were patient and informative. We were up surfing in no time and left the lesson with the skills we need to go start catching our own waves.

Took my first surf lesson at Turtle Bay Resort with instructor Charley leading our small group of 4. Charley has a great personality and made it easy to feel confident out in the water. We started on land with proper technique and soon paddled out in our group. We went one at a time on the waves so Charley could help us paddle and catch the waves at the proper time. When there was a bit of a break waiting for your wave he would take the time to talk with you and answer any questions. We all stood up and rode at least a few waves. Good times!

This turned out better than I thought. I was expecting a large group but when we got into the water we were split up to smaller groups with more instructors and in the end there was one instructor for just two of us. Instructor (I think his name was Colby) was very encouraging and patient. The lesson was two hours and I was thrilled to achieve what I did in this time.
