What To Expect

The Official Art Deco Gift Shop

Founded in 1976, The Miami Design Preservation League has proudly offered guided walking tours of The Art Deco District for over 40 years. All Proceeds go towards supporting preservation. Visitors are introduced to the history, architecture, and preservation efforts of Miami Beach. Tour ticket includes free admission to the Art Deco Museum and Gift Shop. There are a limited amount of tickets available for each tour, so early bookings are encouraged . Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure for check-in.

Definitely go on the walking tour organized by the art deco preservation society. The tour included the lobbies of several hotels, which were great to see. The guide spoke about the history of the US, South Beach, and of course, the development of art deco as a style and how it came to be used in hotels and other buildings in South Beach.

The Miami Design Preservation League was established to SAVE the historic Art Deco District in Miami Beach. It has accomplished that and then some. If you want the real deal this is it. The tour it provided was very informative and above all it was accurate. This is a not for profit group and their only goal is to educate. Be wary of other for profit tour guides around the area.

Run by a non-profit group that have been instrumental in the revival of Art Deco preservation in South Beach since the 1980's. The guides are volunteers, but wonderfully knowledgeable. They do it because they love the Art Deco style, and want others to understand it is worth preserving. Do not miss this tour.
