What To Expect

The Official Art Deco Gift Shop

Founded in 1976, The Miami Design Preservation League has proudly offered guided walking tours of The Art Deco District for over 40 years. All Proceeds go towards supporting preservation. Visitors are introduced to the history, architecture, and preservation efforts of Miami Beach. Tour ticket includes free admission to the Art Deco Museum and Gift Shop. There are a limited amount of tickets available for each tour, so early bookings are encouraged . Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure for check-in.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

I highly recommend the Art Deco Walking Tour by the Miami Design Preservation League. Damian, a tour volunteer, lead the group through the Art Deco area of Ocean Drive. Damian was very well prepared to share information about the city and the buildings and the history of the area. He clearly loves what her does and is very knowledgable. He was aware of the needs of the group by pacing the tour to fit the group, stopping in shady areas to tell stories, and allow for necessary breaks to sit and rest and to take photos. Do not miss this tour when in the South Beach area. I returned after dark to photograph the buildings again when lighted.

Did what it says on the tin. However, I'm not sure I learnt much aside from a bit about Miami beach generally. The buildings are all pretty obvious so if you walk down Ocean Drive, you'll see them. Overpriced in my opinion and the headphones didn't work (which wasn't an issue for us personally).

I really enjoyed the guided tour with our guide Howard. His knowledge and history of South Beach and the Art Deco district was excellent. The tour was well paced starting and finishing the the Art Deco Welcome centre. Your ticket also gives you entry to the exhibit at the Welcome Centre and a 10% discount in the gift shop, which I put to good use - great selection of posters, souvenirs and vintage Deco items
