I did not try any other zip lines in Costa Rica, but I know that we had a blast with the original canopy tour. The guides were great and the lines fun. The Tarzan swing was not the biggest in town, but it was a blast and thrilling. This tour had us repell down an old tree and then climb back up through the inside of the tree. Im sure it was safe ,but it gave us a real feeling of danger and adventure. The price is very reasonable as well. The guides will help take pictures and videos. I recommend!

By reading some of the other reviews, I will say that I hope I am reviewing the correct place! Our tour really was called "The Original Canopy Tour" as referenced by the signs we saw (and took photos of) and as referenced in several travel books (i.e. Lonely Planet). The tour company picked us up from our hotel and took us to the launch area. After signing the obligatory waivers and paying the fees, we were off with our guide and four assistants. "Gary" (I believe was his name) spoke fabulous English and was bright and funny. He described what we would be doing in great detail, and offered us the option of doing the "Tarzan Swing" first. Naturally, we agreed and I nearly had a heart attack jumping off the high platform and swinging from the rope (we were tightly and securely fastened in). But it was awesome. Then, we embarked on our hike to the first platform. The tour features 13 platforms including one crazy rappel down and climb up of the inside of a tree. The guys were all SO careful, conscientious and fun. One of the guys zipped to and from each platform holding my husbands cell phone and another couples camera IN ONE HAND. He videoed us coming in to several of the platforms which captured theses memories in a way we never could have. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour!

During a recent cruise stop in Costa Rica we had the opportunity to take a Zip Line excursion with The Original Canopy Tour. We have a very pleasant bus trip from the ship. The Canopy Tour group was very professional in their instruction; good equipment and very interested in giving the participants an adventurous experience. Ten platform stops; some runs short but others long and fast. Everyone in our group seemed to enjoy themselves. For me, personally, it was a bit 'tame' but still enjoyed it. Edgar Blanco Hernandez was our guide and the Canopy employees knew enough English to give instructions to the participants. Overall, a very nice tour. The tour can be somewhat strenuous at times as the group had to walk from landings on lower levels to take off platforms higher on the hills. A photographer followed the group and produced a DVD of our adventures, both as a group and personal shots. Try it, you'll like it!
