Far more than a museum of the world famous turquoise gem, the Zachary castle is an adventure in and of itself. Noble architecture and verdant garden surround the welcoming environment which now houses the Turquoise Museum. Jewelry, raw gems, and examples of the art of turquoise shine from locales such as Iran, China, Mexico, Egypt, and of course the U.S. All aspects of mining and working the stone, stone quality, origins, and striking uses are displayed. Many exhibits are hands-on. A brief lecture from one of the Zachary/Lowry family enlightened visitors about choosing quality and color of turquoise stones. Maps, displays, a mini-mine, and jewelry cases accent every room. Not overly passionate about jewelry, I visited to see the Zachary Castle, an absolute delight of chandeliers, furniture, and charming windows.

Thanks for coming in, I'm glad you enjoyed the Turquoise Castle! We worked intently to exhibit the World's Most Colorful Gem along with the accents of antiques. Thanks for taking the time to write a review, we hope you can come again sometime!
