If you want more than a tour contact Shaun. He knew everyone, went out of his way to not only give us information, but tell us stories about the people and the horses of Lexington. Without a doubt the best day of our Kentucky road trip.

I know this business as Unique Horse Farm Tours although here on Tripadvisor it's called Bluegrass Horse Farm Tours. Maybe there was a recent name change? But so long as your driver is the very unique Shaun Washington, you've got the right organization! This man is a walking encyclopedia of horse racing! Just name a horse and he'll tell you it's lineage, owner, lifetime earnings and what important races it won. But if "encyclopedia" sounds dull, fear not! Shaun is fascinating. Full of jokes and insider stories about the celebrities who invest in racehorses (he's chauffered many a Hollywood legend), and the ultra-rich who build and maintain these lavish horse farms. We got to see some of those farms up close, including petting the foals, feeding hay to their mothers, seeing a living racing legend or two, and visiting the graves of many other famous horses. Shaun's enthusiasm for his subject was contagious. ("This is history here! This is history!" was something he said repeatedly with great conviction.) Now my husband and I looking out for the best books on racing history and are even thinking about getting a horse.

We had a fabulous time on the horse farms. There were 10 people on the tour and all of them were interested and made our time together pleasant. Shawn, our guide and driver was a fountain of knowledge. I had to take notes to retain so much information. He took us to several farms where we were able to interact with the horses. My favorite was the mothers with their babies. One of the farms was releasing their mares and foals into the pasture for the day. The foals were extremely playful and active. At one farm we saw a stallion worth $100 million . Well worth your time and money ,especially if you get Shawn as a guide. His stories were special!
