Our guide was Sean Washington. Sean was very personable and knowledgeable about the horse farms and thoroughbred racing in general. We were able to see numerous foals and take plenty of pictures.

I cannot say enough about this tour. Shawn was the perfect guide! If you want a guide that knows about horses, racing, and the farms around Lexington, Shawn is your man! He was packed with fun facts, knowledgeable about the owners of the beautiful horses you will meet, and full of passion! The best thing was we visited 3 farms and had lots of hands on time with the horses either in the stable or outside. We were up close to beautiful foals. Petting those babies you couldn't help but wonder if you were petting a future triple crown winner!! Who knows? Shawn even contacted a jockey agent in California to ask what his favorites for the days races at Keeneland were! He also went out of his way and was able to get a couple on the tour box seats at Keeneland that afternoon! Go on this tour, you will not be sorry! I went on another tour last year and hands down between Shawn and getting to interact with many horses, this one was better. My only regret was that we forgot to grab our horseshoes when we got off the bus. I never realized it till the next day when we were in a shop in Midway and I spotted a couple of horseshoes on a shelf. My heart sank as these would have been a perfect memento of the tour :-(

Recommended by our friend, Fred Lands, Shawn(sp) Washington, our guide, exceeded our expectations. He took us to 5 farms, each distinctive; allowing to get up close and personal with horses of all size and ages. He is very knowledgable about the horse business, and full of stories about horse lineage and owner economics and local celebrities, which include himself. He gave us a great tip on a BBQ spot, Red State BBQ, and also took a call later to remind of us a horse to finish in the fifth race at Keeneland the following, opening day. Loved the tour and strongly recommend it!! Know it will be worth your time and money.
