Sean entertained us with facts and stories of owners and farms while we drove through some absolutely breathtaking farms. Our first stop was Rood and Riddle Animal hospital where we got to see a surgery in progress. Then we visited a beautiful farm and saw the grave of Seattle Slew. The stallion barn was like a 5th avenue apartment but was closed to the public. We got to meet and great lots of foals and mares and feed them carrots. Of course, I fell in LOVE with one of the mares!. Our final stop was the stud farm where we got to see three beautiful stallions up close and view the breeding barn. The only downside of this tour was the guest in the front seat who was rather annoying with her tales. I recommend this trip to see what a real thoroughbred farm is like behind the scenes. Sean was a wonderful host.

Nicholas was our tour guide and he is a trainer, and works on his own family farm, owned since the 1700's. It was right after the Belmont and for 7 hours he was the trainer of Justify. He had great stories and we visited 3 different horse farms. We got to see Curlin at a distance, Mohaymen up close and the granddaughter of Affirmed with her just delivered foal. We visited the barns with the mares about to or just delivered, the breeding barn, Seattle Slew's final resting place and some idea of the costs of preparing a horse for the racing season. Nicholas isn't a full time tour guide but he is a good one.

I've taken out of town guests on about a half dozen different horse farm tours. Today a group of hometown friends went on the Unique Horse Farm Tour. Owner/Tour Guide Shaun, takes you on a great tour that is truly unique! He knows the industry from the inside out and gives you a great tour. He has the ability to read the group and adjust to what he thinks suits the group. I highly recommend this tour above all the others!
