I had taken a horse farm tour in Ocala, FL 4 yrs ago and decided to take one in Lexington to compare the difference. I read about Shaun on trip advisor and told him he was rated #1 tour guide and he just enlightened all 22 passengers with the knowledge and facts of horses, breeding, care and expense of owning a horse with a sense of humor. You would never find these farms on your own and they were all gated so we were able to go behind the scenes and pet the horses and tour the barns. He was a chauffuer for 12 yrs for a horse farm owner so he is a safe driver but traffic wasn't bad either on the 1215p tour. He didn't stop talking the entire trip and we met some of the trainers of the 3 horse barns. Shaun told us 3 reasons why there are 2 fences running parallel along the highway on these farms. Take the tour to find out why most fences are black. Halfway thru we stopped at Midway Homemade Bakery in a former school and the selection of pastries, pies and sandwiches was overwhelming as the lemon bars were great. Most people got a chocolate pie. This was not a donut shop. You pay for this tour at the visitors center at the KY Horse Park or call ahead and make a reservation which is non refundable. We had so much fun that we went horseback riding at the KY Horse Park at 4p when we returned for $25.

My husband and I decided to take a last minute tour of the Kentucky horse farms. Shawn (s) picked us up right on time and immediately started pouring information and quizzing our horse racing knowledge. We visited two farms and he knew his way around very well, answering every question that anyone had. He is very kind to the barn hands and spoke highly of the farm's owners. At the end of the tour he took us for Bourbon chocolate ice cream, what a treat!

I won't repeat what others have said except to say my husband and I agree with all the other excellent reviews. Sean has an insider's knowledge of the horse business and personal friendships with the horse farm owners. He is able to take you to places you can't go otherwise and educate you on the many facets of the business. He is hilarious to listen to as he relates anecdotes- both real and imagined. We just had the best time. Because were were there early in the season, it was not too hot and only 5 folks total on our tour. That made it a lot more enjoyable.
