My boyfriend and I went to "Derby" last Saturday and he surprised me with the horse farm tour the day before to gain some extra perspective on what it means to raise and race horses! Our tour guide Shaun is a must! You have to request him at all costs... Single handedly by far the best tour guide you could ever hope to have. His knowledge was unsurpassed, and he had personal relationships with the horses and their trainers which made the whole experience incredibly intimate. We titled our trip to Kentucky "Horses and Bourbon", and I can honestly say that visiting the stables and the farms with Shaun, was the icing on the cake. This tour is a must, if I could give it 7 stars I would!

I was a little unsure at first, racing isn't really part of my horse experience. But Shawn made the tour so much about the horses. We petted babies, commiserated with expectant mares (I hope the 3 due this weekend actually foaled) and meet some really friendly yearlings. Plus the tidbits of history about the horse farms and the overall area was great.

Owner Shaun Washington is a walking history book of the horse racing industry. He is terrific! The tour takes you places not seen on any other tours. Shaun has relationships with the farm owners and can show you behind the scenes. I highly recommend!
