What To Expect

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Travelers will take of from Hilo Airport where they will fly directly to the volcanoes national park. Along the way they will see orchid farms and lush native forest that are in large part only found on big island. The volcanoes national park gives breathtaking views of lava flows both old and new.

Ironically, I rated it five stars despite our never leaving the ground. Our captain told us that, because of bad weather, we could fly, but would only see roughly a quarter of what we would normally see- and miss the volcanoes entirely. She allowed us to decide whether to go up or cancel for a full refund. We chose the latter. Within the hour, both the helicopter company and the booking agent confirmed our cancelation. No games, no false promises, just respect and honesty. If I ever get back to Hawaii, I’ll be sure to re-book!

This was an amazing trip to a live volcano showing mother natures true strengths. Our pilot Sam was truly brilliant… very patient and great at explaining all the things we were seeing. The flight was 55 minutes and we were able to cover vast areas of the reserve taking in the previous lava flows and hovering above/flying around the live volcano - Sam making sure everyone was able to get a view. Before the end of the tour we were taken to see some beautiful waterfalls before returning to the airport. The weather on the day was very volatile and you need to bear this in mind as often trips have to be cancelled for safety reasons… I was extremely privileged to be able to take this trip.. but sadly my husband (voluntarily) stepped off the tour to enable everyone else to go (this was due to weight/weather/extra fuel). Highly recommend the services of Safari … I would suggest booking direct with them though as it’s easier if your trip has to be cancelled for refunds to be issued.
