What To Expect

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Travelers will take of from Hilo Airport where they will fly directly to the volcanoes national park. Along the way they will see orchid farms and lush native forest that are in large part only found on big island. The volcanoes national park gives breathtaking views of lava flows both old and new.

I couldn’t see anything. They did not advertise that 2 unfortunate people were stuck in middle seats with incredibly limited views. Had I known that I never would have booked this excursion. I literally spent $300 to look at peoples heads. I was going to walk away when I realized the seating arrangement, but everybody else was in the helicopter and if one person left the whole flight would have been cancelled for everybody because of weight distribution. It was an unfair and awful situation to put the 2 unlucky people with awful seats. Also, we did this as a day trip from Honolulu. We didn’t realize the likelihood of cancelling was so high. If you are planning this as a day trip, do yourself a favor and book a ground excursion instead because whether or not you actually fly is risky. Also, you could be unlucky like me and waste your day trip staring at the back of people’s heads.

Everyone was so nice and accommodating. I had booked a volcano tour. Both volcanoes were clouded over the areas of interest so they gave us the option of doing a sightseeing tour or rescheduling/refunding, rather than just taking us up to see a little clouds or smoke. Really refreshing their openness about that. I will confidently be booking them in the future should I get the opportunity to do so!
