What To Expect

Atlantis Submarines Waikiki

The Atlantis submarine Hawaii adventure begins with a short (approximately 10 minutes) shuttle ride out to the submarine boarding site. Descending below, your time underwater on the Oahu submarine tour is around 45 minutes. Returning to the world above, your shuttle is waiting to return you to land. The Oahu submarine tour dive site is home to many Hawaiian fish, coral and turtles. On this truly eye-opening experience, you'll visit sunken ships, airplanes and other artificial reefs. The submarine has a spacious air-conditioned interior, large view ports and comfortable seating. If you haven't taken a trip to the bottom of the ocean before, the Atlantis Submarine Oahu Adventure is a "must do" for the whole family during your visit to Hawaii. Check out the world's largest hi-tech 64-passenger submarine offers an enhanced amount of personal space and large viewports only available to Premium Tour passengers.

We thought this would be an easy thing to do/keep dry but was kind of disappointed. It was easy, and we did keep dry, but it was expensive. Not such a thrill to me to go in a submarine. I mean, we went underwater at Disney. This was pretty expensive and the underwater fish we saw weren’t that spectacular. Save your money and energy for snorkeling, in my opinion. Maybe if you have kids who are too little for snorkeling this might- might - be worth it.

This is a great experience. First of all you have to travel on a boat 10 minutes out to sea to meet the submarine. Sitting up top was wonderful, the beautiful Waikiki Shoreline, the blue water, an up close look at surfers. Fantastic! Then we got on the 64 person sub which they said was the largest tourist submarine in the world. Seems like we were underwater for 50 or so and saw a bunch of coral, and artificial reefs made up of purposely sunken vessels and a couple airplanes. These artificial reefs serve as a home for colorful fish, sea turtles and an occasional shark. Visibility on our 11am tour we were told was excellent. Later in the day, they said, it can be less vibrant. At one point we were 115 feet below the ocean’s surface, which (we were told) is something only 1% of the world’s population has experienced. The crew and the narrator were beyond fantastic!

The staff were friendly and helpful. Being submerged in a submarine was pretty exciting. Not as many fish as I expected but the wrecks that we passed were pretty interesting. I was happy for the narration and used the headphones to listen to the prerecorded descriptions of what we were seeing. Thank you for a great experience!
