What To Expect

Atlantis Submarines Waikiki

The Atlantis submarine Hawaii adventure begins with a short (approximately 10 minutes) shuttle ride out to the submarine boarding site. Descending below, your time underwater on the Oahu submarine tour is around 45 minutes. Returning to the world above, your shuttle is waiting to return you to land. The Oahu submarine tour dive site is home to many Hawaiian fish, coral and turtles. On this truly eye-opening experience, you'll visit sunken ships, airplanes and other artificial reefs. The submarine has a spacious air-conditioned interior, large view ports and comfortable seating. If you haven't taken a trip to the bottom of the ocean before, the Atlantis Submarine Oahu Adventure is a "must do" for the whole family during your visit to Hawaii. Check out the world's largest hi-tech 64-passenger submarine offers an enhanced amount of personal space and large viewports only available to Premium Tour passengers.

I booked the Premium Submarine tour on the day for the 3pm slit. We got there and were told that they needed to cancel because of poor visibility. It was our last day so unfortunately could not rebook and were not offered any alternative experiences to enjoy. I would completely understand that these things happen but there is nothing on the website to warn you of this. I see that others have had this issue so more should be done to offer full disclosure. Don't necessarily avoid but be careful of when you book. 1 star from me purely because there was a lack of clarification at the time of booking. Clearly happen to take the business and then cancel on their terms when required.

This sub launched right in front of my hotel (Hilton Hawaiian Village), making this an easy thing to do. You board a boat that takes you out to where the submarines are working. The premier sub has lots larger portholes for viewing and is well work the little extra is cost. While going out to the subs, we had a pod of dolphins circling the boat giving us a good photo op. You transfer to the sub and go down to a depth of 100 feet. They go by coral reefs, a couple of sunken boats, and one aircraft (one they sunk for the view excitement). Lots of fish swimming around make it like deep sea snorkeling. It is one of those bucket list kind of experiences that you should probably do at least once in your life.

Was a little nervous getting in the submarine, never been that deep in the water. The water was a bit murky, so the vision was limited, however, the experience was exciting. Did take a picture as proof I didn't chicken out! Great time.
