What To Expect

Atlantis Submarines Waikiki

The Atlantis submarine Hawaii adventure begins with a short (approximately 10 minutes) shuttle ride out to the submarine boarding site. Descending below, your time underwater on the Oahu submarine tour is around 45 minutes. Returning to the world above, your shuttle is waiting to return you to land. The Oahu submarine tour dive site is home to many Hawaiian fish, coral and turtles. On this truly eye-opening experience, you'll visit sunken ships, airplanes and other artificial reefs. The submarine has a spacious air-conditioned interior, large view ports and comfortable seating. If you haven't taken a trip to the bottom of the ocean before, the Atlantis Submarine Oahu Adventure is a "must do" for the whole family during your visit to Hawaii. Check out the world's largest hi-tech 64-passenger submarine offers an enhanced amount of personal space and large viewports only available to Premium Tour passengers.

Stayed near by to this attraction which is at the far end of the beach so getting there was a breeze. They have a booth outside the Hilton Waikiki village resort and are helpful. Try their website for special deals though. They told us they would honour web deals if we presented the deal to them. The boat trip out was amazing. They take a photo as you board which we missed out on because I hadn’t taken any money. We saw turtles on the way out which was a bonus. Here comes the but......I had been warned to take the larger sub before we left NZ but it was out for maintenance. We chose to still go because the web deal meant it wasn’t as expensive. But I would recommend the bigger sub for sure especially if you get even the slightest bit phobic or you don’t have little kids to put on either side of you or you feel uncomfortable getting seriously up close with fellow submariners. They pack you in like sardines and the trip is extended because the sub needs to be turned around at times to make sure both sides see everything. It’s not a criticism of the sub or the people working it because they were professionals at all times and we have some great memories of what we saw but for me and my daughter, the best part was the boat trip there and back. Tip: take a camera on board the sub but leave your bag on board the boat.

We didn’t want to learn to scuba and this was a good alternative. We saw a ton of fish and a turtle!

If you have a fascination with undersea life then this trip is for you. The multimillion dollar vessel that takes you underwater is spacious and well kitted out. The crew are fantastic and the commentary was hilarious and informative. As stated in other reviews, KIDS ARE FREE with accompanying adults, what a bargain.
