The kayaking was long and boring. No wild life to see. The hike was muddy and slippery. We saw several people take nasty falls. The trail is not maintained. Save your money. If you are a senior citizen it is way to dangerous.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Brian was our tour guide. He was full of stories and was extremely interactive with the group. We did the 7AM, tour, which was nice as there were 6 of us, with tour guide. Expect mud! If you don't then, you will not enjoy. We were lucky and the trail was unseasonably dry. Looking at the trails, there would be no way to avoid the mud in the rainy season. All kayaks hold 2 people. If you're not accustomed to physical activity, you will struggle. For us, it was fairly straightforward. You kayak 4 miles and hike 3. Plenty of people from all ages and abilities were on the trail, so don't let the activity scare you away. Please bring hiking shoes that you don't mind getting muddy inside and out. Ensure you bring your bug spray!

This was an amazing excursion. Tyler was a great guide. He had a great deal of knowledge about the island, as well as the different plants and animals on the trail. He also made the tour very fun. Its an approx 2 mile kayak tour down a very calm river. On the way back there was a mild current you were paddling against. After beaching your kayak, you will take an approx 1.5 mile hike through some at times calf deep mud, slippery mud and tall brush. You will also need to climb and descend a small hill. Just for perspective Iā€™m 53 years old and in relatively good health. I do love kayaking but kayak experiece isnā€™t a must. What is a must is using a walking stick. There are many at the start of the hiking trail. It will definitely help you keep your balance. Also as Tyler said, ā€œDonā€™t avoid the muck, embrace it.ā€ It will help you not slip and fallā€ I would highly recommend doing this tour during the early part of the day for a few reasons. One the more the trail is hiked on, the more slippery the ground becomes. Two, the falls got more crowded the later the morning got. Three, trying to hike back to the kayaks took longer because there were so many people trying to hike to the falls. Finally, when we finally got back to the area where we beached our kayaks, it was extremely crowded. So if you like kayaking, hiking or you just want to try something new and fun, give this excursion a try. I will definitely be doing this again on my next trip to Kauai.
