It was a long day after an early start buit very worthwhile. The journey was broken up by stops, and the agenda when we got to Washington was varied and interesting. But what made the day really special was the steady driving of Chris, our patient driver and the fantastic flow of information and jokes from our guide Michael. Would definitely reccommend this day trip..
This tour started as quite a dissapointment. We were at the departure point nearly half an hour early, as were more than 100 other people, with no guide to tell anyone what was going on. 4 busses pulled up late, but no one could tell us which one we needed to be on. After walking up and down the road and asking the drivers and tour guides, we finally found someone who spoke english well enough for us to understand and got on the right bus. The tour guide was fairly informative, but we felt rushed alot of the time. It would have been nice to spend a little more time in some of the places. Washing DC is an amazing place, and we loved the places we saw, however lack of organisation and/or signage at the start of the day put a dampner in the rest of the tour.
overall a good trip, but the bus carries no water bottles for the guests which is very unusual for a trip of 4 hours, 2 hours before the first stop, and since it is very early 7am start, we had no time to pickup any supplies. i also expected we would get a USA language tour that we signed up for, but we actually got a tour in english and italian by a non-native english speaker, so she was not easily understood by my chinese wife. the time was a bit too rushed, especially at the wax museum which we had to run though very fast, an hour could have been added to the DC portion of the trip with no difficulty i think. other than that, comfortable bus, good view, great sights.
