I did this tour to give a friend I was travelling with a taste of DC without staying in DC. The tour guide was great and the locations were great to give you a taste of DC and the monuments.
The four hour bus ride from New York (each way) is very long.
Viator offers a similiar tour via train from New York which would involve less travel time than bus.
The day tour is a great way to experience Washington DC in a day especially if you have limited time.
If you have time, maybe spend at least one night in DC, take a day tour on one day and explore the museum's on the second day.
Viator has day tours from New York to DC or tours if you are in DC already.
My friend and I did not enjoy this trip. There was not enough time spent at each venue, the guide's manner spoilt the tone of the trip. Which made the already long day less pleasurable.
Easy meeting point beside Grand Central Station. Took a while to find the correct bus though as all the tour guides were inside the bus, there was nobody outside them guiding people. Bus was comfortable and there was a toilet just in case. Stopped off halfway through the journey for a quick break. When we go to Washington, we were able to see a lot of places including Capitol Hill, The White House, and we even got to go into Madamme Tussauds which was fun. The only thing I can comment about is that I would have liked the tour guides (there were 2, 1 speaking English and 1 speaking Spanish) to provide us with more facts and information about the places that we were visiting. They would give us a quick round up of what the places were on the bus, then we were left to our own devices off the bus to wander around. It would have been nice for the tour guides to walk around some of the places with us. Overall ok, but next time I'd just get the bus myself as it wasn't worth the price we paid!
