NAVTEC Expeditions - Day Tours
Get started in the morning after making your way to the office in central Moab. Meet your guide for a safety orientation, then get outfitted with a lifejacket and other necessary gear. A van transfers you to the put-in site on the river where your guide gives a safety briefing and paddle lesson. Then step into your boat, push off from the bank and start down the Westwater Canyon section of the Colorado River.

Colorado River
Your full-day rafting trip through Westwater Canyon provides both challenging white water and stunning scenery. Raft through 12 Class III and IV rapids including Funnel Falls, Skull and Sock It To Me. Your expert guide rows your oarboat through the rapids while you hang on and enjoy the thrills and splashes. On most trips, paddleboats are also available and participants help power the raft while following directions from the guide. Between bouncy white-water sections, take in the stunning scenery of the canyon.

Westwater Canyon
The Westwater Canyon formed when the Colorado River cut across an ancient mountain range, the water channeling through hard rock to create the narrow canyon. Learn about the geology of the area from your guide, as well as its history and wildlife. You may see petroglyphs as well as remnants of the wild west such as old mining cabins and even an outlawā€™s grave. Look for bald eagles roosting in old-growth cottonwood trees, river otters playing in the eddies and beavers slapping their tails.

Josh, was an outstanding guide. He knew his history, his geography and his audience. His technical skills through the rapids was impressive and always kept everyone safe. Participants felt cared for and cared about. Strongly recommend this trip.

I can't outdo Lzsch's review of Chantze as the Yo Yo Ma and Tiger Woods of the river, but I can confirm the truth of the statement. Chantze expertly guided our boat through class III and class IV rapids for a fun and exciting day with the family. It was an adrenaline pumping experience, but because of Chantze, we all felt safe and in good hands. He was also very knowledgeable on the history and geology of the river and we learned lots. I was worried about having all the right clothing to stay warm on our 52 degree day in March, but Chantze came prepared with rain pants, jackets and wetsuits for all, so we were well taken care of and comfortable. And lastly, I have to mention the amazing lunch. Not that you rate a rafting trip on the quality of the lunch, but seriously, this was amazing! Freshly prepared and assembled by Chantze on the river, we had fresh greens and chicken in a delicious thai peanut sauce in spinach wraps. The last rafting trip I was on (not with Navtec) we had PB & J - so really a step up.

Booked a trip 6 weeks in advance. NavTec cancelled 5 days beforehand citing the kids didn't weigh enough. Website does not state a minimum weight or age. Poorly run business. Read the other similar reviews on TripAdvisor
