The bus tour was an incredible experience. The tour guide we had, on the afternoon of 5/28, was Daniel, an Irish immigrant that has a full mastery of knowledge about the history of Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach. He describes events that took place in the early days of the island that Wikipedia and other sources barely mention. He gives a strong defense of the primacy of Amelia Island over St. Augustine, and how Amelia Island was critical in the lead up to the war of 1812. There was so many amazing historical facts that the hour and half trip went by very quickly. He also drives you to amazingly architected houses built by famous architects and describes the "golden era" of Amelia Island. He drives you by the industrial area of the island, highlighting the paper mills that are established on the island. There are other tour guides that run this tour, and I'm sure they are just as talented as Daniel. But his unique perspective as an Irishman, and his passion to present a compelling story was quite entertaining and worth the money for the tour.

Thank you so very much for this incredibly well versed review. It is always our passion to serve and deliver the story of this incredible Island in a very relaxed and unfolding manner, taking in the flags over the period they have flown and looking at the influence of the Golden Years of Amelia Island after the end of the Civil War.
This is one unique vacation spot and if you love history, as you now know, this is a great way to find out the real story.
Regards and appreciate your taking out your time to write these incredible words. It really makes the difference!
