My boyfriend and I drove down from DC to go tour the Everglades and had such a memorable time; we honestly can't recommend this excursion enough! I was initially nervous to book this tour because it seemed a little pricey, but it is worth every cent. Our tour guide, Doug, was the epitome of a knowledgeable and personable tour guide and we felt immediately at ease with him. We learned so many interesting facts from Doug about all the different plants and animals we saw in the Everglades. Also, we felt perfectly safe though we were in the alligators' home turf; Doug was an exceptional communicator ensuring we all knew what was going on at all times and how to respect the wild life's boundaries. He really went above and beyond to make sure we all had an excellent time! When we got back, my boyfriend accidentally stepped in a nest of fire ants and his entire leg was bitten up. Doug immediately jumped to action and treated him from his well stocked first aid kit! As they say, "Time flies when you're having fun," and it sure did! Even though it was a 4 hour tour, it went by quickly and we cant wait to go back next time we're in town. Thank you Doug (and Shurr Adventures) for curating such a memorable and unique experience that we will remember for a long time.

We took the 8:30 AM trip thru the mangrove tunnels. We're a couple in our late 50's and we have some very light previous experience paddling on flat water. We had an absolutely wonderful experience thanks in no small part to our AMAZINGLY GREAT guide Doug. He was very very knowledgable and a great communicator... we really learned a lot about the Glades ecosystem and saw alligators up front and personal but in a very safe way thanks to Doug's expertise and perspective. So many beautiful birds and other flora and fauna which we felt we really gained some knowledge and understanding of thanks to our guide. Also I have to say this - my knees are shot and Doug was very helpful to me getting in and out of the boat seemingly with no effort on his part... he is one strong guy! Anyway if you are reading this and looking for any experience in the Glades around nature and tranquility - do yourself a favor and book with Shurr Adventures. It was completely obvious to us that these people really care about what they are doing. We have paddled all over the place - this was one of our best excursions ever. We will be back!

The morning of our scheduled tour, I got a call from Jeff, the owner. The weather forecast was changing and strong storms were predicted for that afternoon. Jeff worked with us to reschedule our trip to a time that worked for us.👍 Our guide was Doug. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. 😃 The pace of the trip allowed us to absorb our environment with Doug adding informative facts. If we wanted to stop for photos or explore something more, that’s what we did. There were several other tours on the same river, but ours was the smallest and felt more intimate as we were never far from Doug and could hear all he was saying. The setting on the Turner River is just plain “fun”. This is far and away the best thing to do in Big Cyprus/ Everglades NP. Doug and Doug explaining the flora.
