We booked a table in advance of our NY trip, we were there for 4th July & thought there would be a 'party' atmosphere at the Hard Rock, plus I had a great time there for a birthday several years ago. How wrong could I be, I was so disappointed with the whole experience. We were seated by a rather curt & extremely busy waiter who gave us menus, but when we looked at them, they had pages missing and were really tatty. We ordered our drinks & food together & after a long wait, it all eventually came. The fajitas looked good, but the chicken was a breast cut up on top & not cooked with the seasoning & and veg, and my burger was the most tasteless thing I'd tasted all holiday. Then, when the bill came, there was a charge for $18.99 for a glass of wine, we purchased a glass of wine, but the price was much less. When we queried it, we were told that the wine we ordered wasn't on the menu anymore, so we'd been brought an alternative. We told the waiter he did not tell us that or offer an alternative, (which we would have declined at that price and ordered something cheaper), and we would only pay for the price that was on the menu when we ordered, he said we needed to pay for the total on the bill and made us feel really embarrassed for complaining so we asked to see the manager. A manager came over, and the short story is, there were a couple of old menus floating around, and we'd ordered from one of them. Not our fault. After a long debate & and waiting, he gave us an amended bill, and we paid & left. Really put a downer on the whole evening, the place was nothing like it was, or the London one, never will return. Sorry for the negative review, I dont often write them, but it was such a disappointing atmosphere, bad food & poor service, I felt I needed to. Hard Rock, please check all your menus to save the save experience for someone else.

We were on vacation in New York and we dropped in at the restaurant on June 23. We were told that there was a waiting of 45 mins so we gave our international number to receive message when our table was ready. We returned after 45mins and the lady informed us that it our table was not ready but we could wait at the bar. The bartender asked us for ID and I tried it show it on my phone. These days who really carries the passport around especially when your on holiday. We keep it in the locker at the hotel. The bartender refused to serve us. I asked my chatty American neighbor at the bar if he was asked to show his ID and he said he was not. I went to speak with the manager and the lady at the front desk. The manager supported his staff and said it was their policy and law. Fine but then they could have informed me this at the time of taking my table booking. I waited for 45+ mins, more than enough time to goget my ID from the hotel room. Also want to point out that after staying in New york for 10 days and never being asked for ID anywhere it was a real disappointment that an established restaurant situated in the heart of tourism and having so many visitors visit them treat their customers like this. I found them unprofessional, unpleasant and racist. Disappointing

I'm so sorry to hear about your experiance here at the café. i do appoligize but its a new York state law that we cannot sell drinks without seeing an id in person. we are not supposed to except it on the phone or a photo copy of it unfortunetly. But i do understand your frustration with this as you were not asked for id anywhere else in new York but legally every restaurant and bar should be asking for id.my apologies once again.

The food was delicious - the burgers were amazing, a range of interesting drinks options. Amazing atmosphere, busy but ambient. The memorabilia is really interesting and fun!! We came in at 11pm and got served and to a table almost immediately. Had a great time!!
