I'm sad to write such a review because usually I love Hard Rock Cafés and have been to many throughout the world. Wherever there's a Hard Rock in a city I'm visiting, I'm there! This is the only Hard Rock I'd rate down sadly.
I visited the Hard Rock the day before we planned to eat there so that I could make a reservation. The girl on the front desk told me that as I'd planned to eat there at 4.30pm that day, I could make a reservation. "Just turn up, it won't be busy. We don't take reservations for that time of the day", she said.
So, the next day we rock up (pardon the pun) at 4.20pm to be told that as we'd no reservation we'd have to wait 20 mins. Meanwhile, people with reservations were coming in and getting seated straight away. I tried to tell the hostess that we were not permitted the day before to make a reservation but that I'd called in and tried.
Over an hour passed and we were still not seated. Got talking to a family the same size as mine who were waiting with us, also no reservation. They'd arrived about 30 minutes after us. Suddenly they got seated and we were still waiting!
Again, I went out to the hostess and this time wouldn't take no for an answer. It was 6pm by this time and we were waiting over 1.5 hours. We'd a show to go to for 7pm on Broadway!!
We did manage to eat just about (we had an efficient waiter) but we didn't have time for dessert. My son had to leave some of his meal behind such was the time constraint we were under.
Overall it was such a disappointing experience.
The A/C was on overdrive too. Every table around us complained it was too cold to the wait staff. We didn't say this to the wait staff as we just wanted to eat and get out at that point but if you're reading this Hard Rock staff...listen to your guests! The whole restaurant was shivering!!
I've eaten in Hard Rocks from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, USA and Central America and the Hard Rock in Times Square lets the brand down big style. It is by far the worst of them. Most disappointing meal of our week's stay in NY.
