This was a very fun and amazing experience. I loved our tour guide who showed us many historical places along our drive to and from Mt. Vernon. He was very knowledgable and fun. Mt. Vernon itself was very fascinating, and the 3 hours we had there were not nearly enough. However, we got a really good taste of the place, and can better plan for next time. The time of year was perfect too, as it was not too hot or crowded.

The tour of Mount Vernon itself is essentially self guided. In the “Mansion”, as you enter each room, staff/volunteers of Mount Vernon Ladies Association of the Union explain specific information about the history etc. Trip advisor basically takes you to the site and take you back. The driver was friendly and informative. But trying to contact the tour operator by calling their telephone number or by email repeatedly was unsuccessful. They did not return telephone calls and did not reply to email about what time the driver will pick us from the hotel etc. Eventually, I contacted Viator (through whom we made the booking) who did get in touch with tour operator and got us the information we needed.

This was an excellent tour with a knowledgeable and friendly bus driver. The estate is beautiful with so much history. We also enjoyed the Mill and Distillery.
