The Whitney is one of the best contemporary art museums in the country – and what makes it so is the collaborative, young minded growth plan. We are founding members and while relatively inactive at the moment, we are big fans of where the Whitney is going. We intend to stay involved. The old Whitney was dark and had a very 70s feel to it. The new Whitney is bright, light and free. With a view of the city on one side and the Hudson on the river, flanked by the Highline, the Meat Packaging district and wonderful restaurants, it couldn't be in a better location. Kurt has leveraged much of the construction development into ideas and projects and our love for Danny Meyer's (owner of Shake Shack and other concepts as apart of the Union Square Hospitality Group) Untitled, makes the entire experience worthwhile. We very much enjoy the street side view ability with the free downstairs gallery. This feels like the Whitney has brought the neighborhood on the journey of art accessibility and has offered a chance for everyone (even those who can't pay) to enjoy a piece of their collection. If you are looking for a wonderful day activity, start the Highline at the other end and finish at the Whitney. Have lunch and walk around the museum. You will have a wonderful experience.

The new Whitney Museum of American Art is breathtaking. While I'm not an avid aficionado of modern art, I found the building itself, designed by Renzo Piano, a true work of art and design. The floors that had galleries also had terraces allowing visitors to enjoy the views of the west side of New York. For photographers, scenes of the New Jersey skyline showing the Hudson River and blue skies are perfect.

One of the U.S.'s premier American art museums, its location near the High Line and the Chelsea Market gives added reason to make a morning or afternoon of this area. Multi-floored and lots to see so budget 2 hours at least
