What a wild ‘n crazy, fun time we had mushing the dog ‘sled’ in the summer! Both my husband and I got to drive the team of 4 dogs through the course that had been carved out for training for the Alaskan Iditarod! It was sooooo much fun, and I’m so glad we did it! The dogs were awesome and loved pulling us through the course!
Jesse picked us up in Talkeetna and took us back to the 100-acre ranch. He was very informative about how the dogs are cared for and how an Iditarod works...amazing! After we ‘raced’ the sleds, we got to meet the dogs...champions & future champions! We played with 10-week-old pups, which was the icing on the cake!
We were there in July, and Alaska was having a heatwave, so it was a bit warm. That said, the only thing I would recommend is wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet or muddy. For the dogs’ comfort, the course had some water (not deep) in places for them to run through. We can’t wait to go back to Alaska, and will definitely put AK Sled Dog Tours on our itinerary, again! We are still talking about our dog-sledding adventure!
