What To Expect

Verde River

The Classic Water to Wine tour begins with approximately an hour and a half inflatable kayak trip on a scenic stretch of the Verde River with just enough chutes and riffles to add a bit of excitement without ruffling any feathers. Your river trip ends in the shade of giant Cottonwood trees at the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River. Here, you take the gravel path up through the vineyards to the Tuscan farmhouse at Alcantara Vineyards for your wine tasting delight

Alcantara Vineyards and Winery

The Alcantara Vineyards is a favorite on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, featuring award-winning wines and friendly sommeliers to guide you through the tasting. Each customer gets a $20 credit (included in price) to use for wine tastings, food or gifts.

Everything was so well organized with social distancing. We had a great time. The water was refreshing and kayaking not strenuous. The water does most of the work for you. Highly recommend and can't wait to do this again on our next trip there.

The Verde River is an easy kayak experience. The kayaks are all in great condition. You simply sit back and let the river take you along. After that you head over to the vineyard. All 5 of us enjoyed the wines. Surprisingly they are very good which is not always the case for AZ wines. I would have given it a higher rating, if the Winery personnel interacted a bit more with their customers. Typically when I visit wineries there is usually someone who explains the wines and gives some background on the Winery. All in all, it was a pleasant day and a positive experience.
