What To Expect

Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve

Your hot air balloon tour check in at the Deer Valley Airport Balloon Ride Parking Area, unless the roundtrip hotel transfers option is selected. Guests will float above the awe-inspiring Sonoran Desert viewing local landmarks, wildlife and plant life from above.

Camelback Mountain

Soar past iconic Camelback Mountain in the Phoenix Valley. This mountain is a favorite of local hikers and cyclists.

Downtown Phoenix

As the sun sets, you'll see Downtown Phoenix in the distance. As you come in to land, a table complete with linens and china awaits you in the heart of the desert, a clue to what you are about to enjoy! You'll be greeted with a traditional celebration that includes scrumptiously prepared gourmet cuisine from the award-winning Vincent’s on Camelback restaurant. First-time flyers will be treated to the legendary Balloonists Ceremony that balloonists all over the world have been sharing for more than a century.

Captain Mike and the entire crew were a pleasure to fly with on this amazing sunset hot air balloon ride. It was a slightly windy day, and we waited until it was safe to take off. Captain Mike is a very experienced balloonist and once we took off, we knew we were in good hands. We flew for a little less than an hour, which gave everyone time to enjoy the 360 degree views of the area. We had a perfect day for sunset pictures. Luckily one of the other passengers had a commercial grade camera and he's shared his photos with the rest of us. Once on the ground, Capt Mike and the crew set up a picnic table, table cloth, champagne, and unique hors d'oeuvres. It was a very enjoyable finish to a wonderful day. This was my second balloon ride, and I would highly recommend a sunset ride if you haven't done one before.

I thought Hot Air Expeditions did a great job in making us feel safe and secure. Alex took care of us at the airport and got us to the launch site. I flew in 1996 and came back to Hot Air Expeditions to take my husband, brother and 2 cousins. The 5 of us had a wonderful experience that we remember our whole lives. We were well taken care of while we were peacefully floating about Phoenix. I would recommend everyone to do this! Even if you are afraid of heights, you don't need to look directly down.......you stay towards the middle of the basket and look out. It's a beautiful site.....don't miss it! I can't say enough about Hot Air Expeditions, our pilot Tommy and Alex! Captain Tommy, maybe you should play a recording of "Up, Up and Away In My Beautiful Balloon" when taking off! Jo Ann G.

The experience was fun from start to finish and Mike and Jesse were always in control. Jesse drove us to the launch site where we met Captain Mike and all helped inflate the balloon. The winds were a bit tricky at the start but Mike clearly knows how to safely get loaded and off the ground. Better yet, Mike’s narrative and answers to our many questions put us all at ease and added much color to the flight experience. After a safe landing, Mike popped the corks on champagne and passed out Certificates. All very enjoyable.
