What To Expect

Kachemak Bay State Park

Take a 2-hour (or longer) trip out on the water, catered to whatever your interests might be. Go see humpback and orca whales, birds, sea otters, or just check out the landscape as you cruise into deeper bays that push up against mountains and waterfalls. You can even choose what time of day to go. Are you into photography? Tailer your trip, depart early morning or late evening to capture images in the best light.

Coldwater is the best water taxi and wildlife tour company in Homer. All of their captains all know about photography and are respectful of the wildlife they are viewing. On one of our many trips with Coldwater this year, Captain John got us on Minke Whales, Humpbacks and Orcas. I would swear that John is the closest I've seen to a whale whisperer that I've come across. Book a wildlife tour with Coldwater and you will not be disappointed. Sally in the office is a nice as they come.

Captain John was awesome. Really knows the bay. We saw puffins, otters and humpback whales lunge feeding. Perfect trip

Captain John gave us an outstanding tour. The boat ride was smooth and we were able to follow a large humpback whale for quite a distance and watch him breach multiple times. It was an outstanding experience. We saw many bird species including puffins at Gull Island and lots of sea otters up close. It was a superlative 2 1/2 hour tour!
