What To Expect

Kachemak Bay State Park

Take a 2-hour (or longer) trip out on the water, catered to whatever your interests might be. Go see humpback and orca whales, birds, sea otters, or just check out the landscape as you cruise into deeper bays that push up against mountains and waterfalls. You can even choose what time of day to go. Are you into photography? Tailer your trip, depart early morning or late evening to capture images in the best light.

Captain John took us out to a beautiful spot and we saw so much wildlife. Very personable and fun to be with. He was extremely knowledgeable in all the animals we saw, telling us the names of birds, types of whales in the area, facts about them, etc. And he definitely knew where the animals were too! We didn’t have a minute where there wasn’t wildlife all around us. They even worked us in last minute when our previous boat trip canceled on us. Definitely worth putting them on your schedule!

Tour employees Abigal (office) and Patrick (boat captain) were great to work with. Boad clean, but very basic. Abigal greeted us the day before when we check in to get details of trip. Patrick was easily found at boat dock. Business conveniently located on Spit. Boat didn't really provide seating & we were not exactly aware of that. We stood most of the 2 hours tour. The ride to the bay where we saw humpback whales pretty rough and would not recommend for children or elderly. We did see whales, puffins, sea otters and the experience meet our expectations.

After we boarded the boat, the captain asked us what we wanted to see and then was able to take us right to where we saw whales, sea otters. He taught us some tips on how to spot where the whales are as well! After that he took us to where some of the migratory birds hang out and we got to see puffins and murres. Great trip!
