We were a little apprehensive about the long day/drive, wondering if our guide would be good and if we would have company. We needn't have worried. We shared the day with a couple of other really nice, fun ladies and our guide, Cassie, was the BEST! The trip is pretty much as described, but Cassie made it even better with her Alaskan tales and her knowledge of the area and her custom playlists for different parts of the drive. Our stops for breakfast (Hilltop) and dinner (Yukon River Camp) were great! Everyone made us feel welcome and no one made us feel like tourists or outsiders. And at the Yukon River Camp we visited with Dorothy at her souvenir stand in the parking lot. Amazing things she makes from fur and birch! There were plenty of stops to stretch our legs, and we knew we could take a restroom break....even if there weren't any restrooms! Probably the longest part of the day was the stretch back to Fairbanks after dinner. But we still had a great time and didn't regret a minute of it!

Had an amazing day going up the Dalton Highway. Our driver Cassie was filled with knowledgeable information , out going, and excellent stories filled with survival information on information on what to do if a bear approaches you and how to live off the land when you have to go into survival mode.

I finished my tour with guide Cassie on 9/18 from Fairbanks and it was a pleasant day feeling the vastness of the northland going all the way to the arctic circle. It was the end of the cruise season and I was fortunate to experience Alaska at this time. In this tour, we went through areas of snow and rugged terrain that is inaccessible by ordinary drivers. The ride was long but our guide showed great knowledge of Alaska and was accommodating with a good portion of the group not fluent English speakers. The journey was different from the other fun trips that have obvious areas of interests but more of geographical and cultural experience. It educated me the life of an Alaskan living further north of the major cities where 99% of the tourists went. It was overall informative and I recommend patient folks with inquisitive minds take this tour to look at the other side of Alaska, besides the scenic piece offered by a cruise line.
