Best of Jackson Hole Wildlife Safari Tour

Overview
Thousands of mule deer, elk, moose, big horn sheep and bison migrate into the valley in search of food each year along with coyotes, fox, bald and golden eagles, swans, and even packs of wolves. This gathering of wintering wildlife makes winter one of the best times to view wildlife in Jackson Hole!

After a full morning in the field we will enjoy lunch together at a local eatery before heading back out for the afternoon. When available, we will take a horse drawn sleigh through the National Elk Refuge into the middle of the largest wild elk herd in North America. Following the sleigh ride, we will head back into the field to spot more wildlife.

**Sleigh rides are optional.

My husband and I did the wildlife safari as part of an anniversary get away and had a wonderful time! Our guide, Jody, picked us up at our lodge first thing in the morning. We had another couple join us and after a quick breakfast, we headed out to look for wildlife. Jody was very familiar with the best spots to find certain animals and we got to see moose (a cow and her calf) right off the bat! Jody also showed us a trick on how to take a picture through the binoculars or spotting scope to get closer shots. We also got to see a herd of bison and a bull elk before going to the Art Museum for an amazing lunch and tour the museum. We then proceeded to the Elk Refuge for the sleigh ride and a close up experience with the Elk. Jody then took us to the back side of the refuge to see the mountain goats which was my husbands favorite part! Jody was so much fun and knowledgeable and we would highly recommend The Best of Jackson experience!

What an amazing day with Jackson Hole Wildlife Safaris! My guide, Jody, picked me up at my rental cabin first thing in the morning. There had been 3 people scheduled for the trip, but the other couple had backed out the day before. Rather than cancelling the trip, I got a private safari! I was in Jackson Hole for a ski trip with friends, but had to forgo skiing due to my pregnant state. My husband gave me the trip as a Christmas present- one of the best presents ever! We spent the morning in the "field," driving around in a comfortable van looking for wildlife. Jody grew up in Jackson and was extremely knowledgable about the area and wildlife. He was also extremely personable and a great story teller. A private safari could have been awkward, but Jody made it so much fun! Our morning was PACKED with awesome wildlife! We saw coyote, elk, bison, moose (cows and bulls with antlers), otters, bald eagles, and WOLVES (!). The binoculars provided were high quality and really easy to use. Whenever we would see wildlife, Jody would pull over the van and we'd get out to get a better view. He has a true passion for wildlife and taught me so much about each of the animals. His enthusiasm really added to the enjoyment and excitement of the experience. He even had a long range scope so that we could observe animals at quite a distance with great clarity and detail. Around 11:30am we ended up at the National Museum of Wildlife Art for a delicious meal at the restaurant there, Palate. Wonderful food with a gorgeous view overlooking the National Elk Refuge. After lunch we toured the museum, at my pace. From the museum we headed out and caught a couple more great wildlife viewings- trumpeter swans and big horn sheep. Due to heavy snow and limited visibility I decided to pass on the sleigh ride, but that was totally my choice. It was snowing nearly all day, but I felt comfortable in the van. Jody was a safe driver and the vans are clearly made for all weather and road conditions. I would highly recommend this company to any of my friends traveling to Jackson. They clearly put the customer experience first and provide first rate service. If you want to see all the amazing wildlife Jackson has to offer, this safari is for you!

We took a private wildlife safari tour in Jackson the week before Christmas with our family. Our guide, Grant, was excellent; very knowledgable about the area, and its history. Also very knowledgeable about the animals and where to locate them. He was flexible with our family, provided us with snacks, a delicious lunch and binoculars to view the animals which were not next to the road. The van was comfy, clean and warm. We lucked out and saw Moose and Big Horn sheep next to the road. The limited snow had slowed down the Elk migration so they were a little scarce but searched out a few in the National Elk Reserve. The trip was easy to book online and had no problems at all.
