We visited Chicago for the first time and thought it was a great idea to book a bus tour to learn more about the city and do some sightseeing. We came across BigBus on TripAdvisor and booked a two day ticket. On day one of our tour we made it to stop one using the fantastic BigBus app. We showed our TripAdvisor tickets but the guy standing at the little cart selling tickets was absolutely not interested. Maybe because he gets no commission from pre-booked tickets but he literally said nothing. Not a single word. He gave us our printed BigBus tickets and that’s it. Not a great first impression… Once the bus arrived this all changed. Our tour guide was Nick and he was fantastic! He was friendly and inviting. We went upstairs and enjoyed the full tour. Nicks knowledge of the city was immediately obvious. He provided us with facts and figures that impressed us. We could tell his full bus tour speech was memorized but he still put his own personality into it so it didn’t sound fake. His humor was great and kept us engaged throughout the tour. Big thanks to Nick. Busses are frequent enough and the app is great. We never received a brochure with discount offers and didn’t receive a map either. We managed with the app and google maps fine.

We had one day to play tourist in Chicago and rode the hop-on-hop-off bus around downtown. The entire tour/loop takes about 2 hours, but there are 13 stops on the route where you can exit the bus to take in area attractions. We were able to visit the Willis (Sears) tower, Navy Pier, and Shedd Aquarium in addition to completing a full loop/tour. The last bus starts its loop at 4pm, but since most of the attractions close around 5, it works out well. The guides are friendly and knowledgable, we got do enjoy 4 different guides since we hopped off a couple of times and were picked up by a different bus at a later time. The only downfall to this tour (which is why it received 4 stars) is because it leaks BADLY in the rain. I had to move multiple times and lift my feet off the floor in order to stay dry in a fully covered bus. Many others were not as lucky and ended up wet.

Perfect tour, in spite of the frigid weather. The tour guide who's name I don't remember, but it wasn't Jennifer, was funny and pleasant and had a good handle on the city, history, architecture and attractions.
